Dear members,
As we ready to re-open, in response to the Corona virus, we will follow NYS Health Dept guidelines as well as many of the USTA guidelines. Our goal is to make you feel safe and comfortable as we welcome you back to tennis and Reis Tennis Center!
Please keep in mind that all rules must be strictly adhered to, and social distancing must be followed. Any violation of the rules may jeopardize the play of other members and the ability for Reis Tennis Center to remain open.
Reis Tennis Center outdoor courts will be open starting May 30th from 8 am to 12 pm and Sunday, May 31st from 8 am to 12 pm.
Entrance
Our daily schedule for the outdoor courts starting on Monday June 1st is
- Monday through Thursday; 8:00am to 7:30pm
- Friday : 8:00am to 4:00pm
- Saturday: 9:00am to 5:00pm
- Sunday: 9:00am to 1:00pm
We reserve the right to close the facility earlier for any reason if necessary.
To reserve a court, please call RTC at 607 254 8922, email us at reistenniscenter@cornell.edu, or make a reservation online at www.reistennisbookings.com.
Members will not have access to Reis Tennis Center outdoor courts earlier than 15 minutes before opening or later than the closing time.
Once arrived at RTC, please go directly to the outdoor courts. The Front Desk Attendant will come to greet you and take the names of all the players in the reservation.
Out of respect for others, please enter wearing a mask. Once on court feel free to remove it, but place it back on before you exit the court.
The court entrance doors will be propped open so you don’t have to touch them.
Desk Counter/Payments
For new reservations, your best option is to pay online at www.reistennisbookings.com. Summer court fees are $12 per hour and $8 for students.
Reis Tennis Center encourages members to purchase court time in advance and have the money go into “account credit,” so that there is no transaction when you come in. If you have account credit, you can just call RTC at 607 254 8921 and ask the Front Desk Attendant to take the money out of your account. Many of you have done this in the past out of convenience.
Because of the CV-19 crisis, for now we will not handle cash. We request that you pay via credit card or check.
Contract courts will have priority.
Staff will wear masks or “like in kind” and gloves when checking in players.
Physical Distancing
Players should come to the facility no more than 10 minutes before the time expected to play.
On Court Protocol
After the match, it is advisable to forego the traditional handshake.
No scorecards will be available.
Do not crowd together on the bench, and when entering and leaving the court, remember distance doesn’t squash a good conversation.
Players should stay on their side of court and avoid changing ends
We recommend you open a new can of new balls for each player on the court, and mark/label. Do not handle the same balls. Pick up balls with your racket and/or foot and send them back over, so you avoid touching them. The same methods should be used for retrieving balls from adjacent courts.
Bring your own water. The water fountains will be shut off.
The indoor courts will remain closed until further notice. They are not available for any practice even if it starts raining.
Garbage cans have been removed, so you will need to carry out all garbage you bring at the tennis courts
No member use of hoppers.
Non-Members will pay the non-member fee of $5 per hour over the phone or online if they will play with a member.
No towels.
Lessons
Meet your pro on court.
Students will not touch tennis balls.
No serving unless a new can is opened or players bring their own balls
Carts will be disinfected/wiped down after each lesson.
No more than 3 students per court.
Group coaching will take place only where full social distancing is possible. An exception would be made only where all participants are family members or are otherwise in one home
No member may access Reis Tennis Center outdoor courts if they have had symptoms of COVID-19 (including, but not limited to fever, chills, cough, shortness of breath, sore throat, any other flu-like symptoms, or respiratory issues) for the past 14 days or has been in the presence of anyone who has exhibited symptoms of COVID-19 in the last 14 days.
Please let us know if you have any questions.
Thank you for your understanding and I am looking forward to seeing you all at the tennis courts.
Best wishes,
Anda Perianu
